In Ambiente 1.4, room names have been reorganized around room size, while absorption is now handled as a separate parameter: Low, Medium, or High.
In previous versions, different absorption levels were represented by different room names, even when the underlying room size was the same.
The table below shows the conceptual mapping between Ambiente 1.3 room names and the new Ambiente 1.4 room structure.
New Rooms in Ambiente 1.4
The following rooms do not have a direct equivalent in Ambiente 1.3. They extend the available size range with smaller and larger modeled spaces:
Important Note
This mapping should not be interpreted as a strict preset-to-preset conversion.
Ambiente is not based on fixed room recordings. The relevant parameters are:
room geometry / size
absorption level
instrument position
microphone distance and placement
Names and images are qualitative references. The final choice should always be made by listening, exactly as in a real acoustic space.
