Can I Use My Own Reverb or External Effects? / Can I Turn Off the Internal Reverb?
v(1.0)
Yes, you have the flexibility to incorporate your own reverb or external effects with SWAM String Sections.
However, it's important to be mindful of the distinction between reverb and spatialization. The Room Simulator by Audio Modeling not only provides reverb but also virtual positioning, replicating reflections based on the room's geometry and material absorption. This integrated spatialization contributes significantly to the realism of the sound. A reverb effect alone cannot achieve the same level of authenticity as a true orchestral section.
We recommend experimenting with the internal Room Simulator before adding multiple external effects, which is a common practice with other virtual instruments. The sound of SWAM String Sections (and real string sections!) is strongly influenced by the virtual room and the positioning of the musicians within it. By adjusting parameters such as microphone distance, you can fine-tune the sound to achieve the desired result.
If you want, you can find the option to use an external Spatializer on the Advanced parameters page under the “Room” tab.
In summary, while you have the option to use your own reverb or external effects, it's crucial to recognize the value of the internal Room Simulator in providing both spatialization and reverb. The realism of the sound is closely tied to the room simulation, so we encourage you to explore its capabilities before incorporating additional effects to achieve your desired sound.
