Scenes are alternative setups stored inside a preset. The ensemble stays the same, but each Scene can give it a very different sound and feel.
Your fingers control the performance. Scenes control the soundscape.
Presets and Scenes
- A preset is the ensemble: the line-up of instruments, their keyboard ranges and the way the notes are distributed among them. Loading a preset initializes all its instruments, so it takes a moment.
- A Scene changes only the settings of the instruments that are already loaded. This is why switching Scene is instantaneous, even while you play.
What a Scene contains
A Scene stores the complete setup of the ensemble:
- Acoustic space: the room, its absorption, Ambience Amount and Mic Distance.
- Stage: the position of every instrument in the room.
- Mix: the levels of the sections and instruments, and the Master EQ.
- Conductor: the values of Expression, Macros (including Link), Human Touch and Poly Engine, the Dynamic Behavior and the velocity curve.
- Ranges and voicing: the keyboard ranges and transposition of the RANGES page, and the voice allocation settings of MORE → ADVANCED.
- Local MIDI mapping: the controller assignments that you set to the Local scope. Global assignments are not stored in the Scene and stay the same for all presets.
Factory and User Scenes
- Factory Scenes come with the preset. You cannot change or overwrite them.
- User Scenes are the Scenes that you save yourself.
How to switch Scene
- On the main screen: click the arrows ◀ ▶ under the preset name in the header, or press the Left and Right arrow keys. You can compare the Scenes while you play.
- In the Preset Browser: select the preset, click a Scene in the SCENES list to read its description and see the map of the instruments, then double-click it (or press Return) to load it. The filter buttons above the list show only the Factory or only the User Scenes.
How to create your own Scenes
- Adjust the sound: move the instruments on the STAGE, change the room, balance the MIX and the Master EQ, set the Conductor.
- Click the save icon in the header and choose Save As....
- Enter a Name and, optionally, a Description (any language and emoji are accepted), then click DONE.
The new User Scene is added to the preset and loaded immediately. When a User Scene is loaded, the save menu also offers Overwrite Current, which updates it with your current setup.
Rename, edit and delete
In the Preset Browser, select one of your User Scenes and click the options button on its right:
- Rename / Edit changes the name and the description, and also saves the current setup into the Scene.
- Delete removes the Scene immediately, without asking for confirmation, and loads the first Scene of the preset.
